Some minor features described on this page are new in VAST Cluster 2.0.0.
The VAST Web UI dashboard offers you a quick and easy way to monitor your VAST Cluster.
The dashboard provides:
Dials. These dials show you frequently updated current levels of the following performance and capacity metrics:
Bandwidth. The rate at which data is transmitted between the client network and VAST Cluster.
Click the dial to toggle between total bandwidth and a breakdown of read and write bandwidth.
Latency. The average time needed to perform an I/O operation.
Click the dial to toggle between total latency and a breakdown of read and write latency.
IOPS. The number of I/O operations performed per second.
PHYSICAL. By default, shows total physical SSD space available (FREE). Hover to display a breakdown of usage. Click the dial to toggle between two breakdowns in the hover box:
Free. Total physical SSD space available
Used. Total physical SSD space being used.
Non default (toggle option):
Primary used. The amount of physical SSD space in use by primary data. This is all data except snapshots and data pending deletion.
Auxiliary used. The amount of physical SSD space in use by (a) snapshots and (b) any data that may be pending deletion at the current time. This figure usually gives a close indication of snapshot capacity usage. However, at times when a large amount of data was recently deleted, wiping that data from physical storage may taken some time and temporarily enlarge this figure.
Data reduction ratio of the cluster. The ratio between the total logical capacity (including snapshots) and total physical capacity of the cluster.
LOGICAL. The FREE value is the estimated effective space available. Hover to see both used and free effective space estimates. The used value is the amount of logical data currently stored, not including snapshots.
These are powered independently of the analytics system and are always available.
Graph. The graph shows how a selected metric or combination of metrics varied over the several seconds in the immediate past. These graphs are fed by the analytics system. Click a radio button under the graph to change which metric or combination is shown on the graph.
The dashboard appears when you log in to the VAST Web UI. To return to it at any time, click the VAST Data logo at the top of the page or select Dashboard from the menu (click at the top left of the page to open the menu).

By default, the units of measurement shown on the Dashboard are base10 units. If you prefer, you can switch to base2 units. See Changing Units of Measurement.
