The VAST Web UI is a web based graphic interface for administrating and monitoring VAST Cluster. It is accessible over local network connection to the VAST Cluster CNodes.
Make sure your PC has network access to all of the VAST Cluster compute servers (CNodes).
<VMS_VIP>is the management VIP that you provided during installation. This is the IP used to connect to the VAST Cluster management server (VMS).
The VAST Web UI opens.
If this is your first time connecting to the VAST Web UI, click I agree to accept the VAST Data End User License Agreement.
Enter your Username and Password to log in.
For first time login, use the factory default management user account credentials:
VAST Cluster has one factory default management user account. You cannot delete the factory default management user account or reduce its permissions. After first time login, you can change the password and create additional management accounts.
You're now logged into the VAST Web UI and you're viewing the Dashboard.
VAST Cluster is pre-installed with a self-signed certificate to secure the HTTPS connection between the VAST Web UI and the VAST Cluster management server. When you browse to the VAST Web UI, your browser will warn you that the connection to the site is not secure. If you would like to install an authority-signed SSL certificate, follow this procedure.
Obtain an SSL certificate from a Certificate Authority (CA). The CA will provide you with two files: a certificate file and a key file. Choose an X.509 output file format containing ASCII (Base64) encoded data.
Open the menu (click ) and select Settings. Go to the Certificates tab.
Enter the certificate file contents in the Certificate field and the key file content into the Key field.
When pasting the certificate file content, include the BEGIN CERTIFICATE and END CERTIFICATE lines, like this:
-----BEGIN CERTIFICATE----- ... -----END CERTIFICATE-----
When pasting the private key file content, include the BEGIN PRIVATE KEY and END PRIVATE KEY lines, like this:
-----BEGIN PRIVATE KEY----- ... -----END PRIVATE KEY-----
Your certificate is installed and you can now browse to the VAST Web UI without your browser warning that the site is not secure.
The VAST Web UI is easy to navigate.
To change page, click the menu button at the top left () and select a page.
If you don't have permission to access any given page, the page name appears in gray in the menu. Contact your administrator to request the permission you need.
The name of your VAST Cluster and its status appears at the top left. Your username appears at the top right.
The units of measurement shown on the Dashboard and in the Analytics reports are base10 units by default. You can change them to base2 if you prefer.
Base10 units have the prefixes M, G, T, and so on, representing powers of 10. In base10, 1 TB refers to 1000 GB, which refers to 1000 MB, and so on.
If you switch to base2 units, the units become TiB, GiB, MiB, and so on, in which 1 TiB = 1024 GiB, 1 GiB = 1024 MiB, and so on.
From the menu (click ), select Settings and then select the General tab.
Switch the bases as follows:
Display capacity in base10. Disable to switch to base2. This affects the capacity metric dials on the bottom row of the Dashboard page, capacity graphs that you can view on the Analytics page, and other capacity tables such as the table of quotas shown in the Quotas tab on the Configuration page.
Display performance in base10. Disable to switch to base2. This affects the performance metric dials in the top row of the Dashboard page, and analytics graphs that you can view on the Analytics page.
