A replication policy must be specified in the configuration of a replication stream. It defines the target, the start and the frequency of replication. You can have multiple replication policies that can be used by multiple replication streams in succession, although only one replication stream can be defined on the VAST Cluster and active at one time. Before you can create a replication policy, a replication target must be created.
-
From the left navigation menu, select Data Protection and then Replication Policies.
Click + Create Policy.
-
In the Add Replication Policy dialog, complete the fields:
Field
Description
Policy Name
Enter a name for the policy.
Choose a Target
Select the replication target from the dropdown. This defines a destination to which to copy the data.
To create a new target, see Managing Replication Targets.
Schedule Frequency
Specify how frequently the data should be replicated. The minimum frequency supported is 6 hours, which can be written as 6h.
Enter the schedule frequency as an integer followed by a time prefix without spaces:
For example: 24h
Start Date
Click the calendar icon and select the date and time of day to begin replication.
Note
The replication stream performs an initial data sync immediately after being created. The initial sync creates the first restore point. Therefore, the restore point created on the start date is in fact the second restore point.
-
Click Create.
The policy is created and listed in the Replication Policies page.
To modify the configuration of a replication policy, click to open the Actions menu for the policy and select Edit. Make your changes and then click Update.
To remove a replication policy, click to open the Actions menu for the policy and select Remove. Click Yes to confirm the removal.
To manage replication policies via the VAST CLI, use the following commands.
