You can have one replication stream configured at any given time. When you create a replication stream, it is automatically activated, and can be deactivated and reactivated at any time. Before a replication stream can be created, a replication target and a replication policy must be created.
In the left navigation menu, select Data Protection and then Replication Streams.
On the Replication Streams page, click + Create Stream.
In the Add Replication Stream dialog, complete the fields:
Enter a name for the stream.
Choose a policy
Select a replication policy from the dropdown. The policy specifies the desired target, start time and schedule for the stream.
To create a new policy, see Managing Replication Policies.
The stream is created and listed in the Replication Streams tab.
To modify the configuration of a replication stream, click to open the Actions menu for the stream and select Edit. Make your changes and then click Update.
Deactivating a stream pauses it. Activating the stream resumes it.
Under the Actions column for the stream you want to activate or deactivate, click () and select Activate or Deactivate as needed.
Removing a stream prevents the ability to resume it. After removing a stream, if you create a new stream using the same policy, that new stream triggers a new initial sync, copying over all of the VAST Cluster's data to the target.
If you only want to pause replication and you may want to resume the stream later, don't remove the stream; instead deactivate the stream.
Removing a stream does not delete the restore points that were already created to the target.
To view analytics a replication stream, click to open the Actions menu for the stream and select Analytics view.
The Analytics page is displayed, showing you a predefined report called Replication Stream info which gives you useful information about the active stream.
Backlog is the amount of data waiting to be replicated.
RPO (Restore Point Objective) is measured as the amount of time that passed since the last fully uploaded replication snapshot was taken.
To manage replication streams via the VAST CLI, use the following commands.
Display replication streams.
Display details of a specific replication stream.
Create a replication stream.
Modify, activate (start) or deactivate (pause) a replication stream.
Delete a replication stream.
