From VAST Cluster 2.1.0 the VAST Web UI features an installation tool that performs the following tasks:
Configures the hosts (CNodes and DNodes)
Optionally configures the data switches.
Creates the cluster on the VMS (VAST Management System)
VAST Web UI installation eliminates the need to run configuration scripts separately on all hosts and switches from the command line. It also performs the function of the
cluster create CLI command
Part of the configuration is handled by choosing a file called a scheme file which contains a set of pre-chosen configurations. Configuration varies in many flexible aspects. Most deployments tend to be based on distinctive types that can be represented by one of these predefined scheme files for ease. There are three pre-defined scheme files. More are expected to be added later. In the meantime, it may often be necessary to prepare a custom scheme file for each installation.
To use the GUI installation option successfully, review the specific installation plan with reference to the following installation options and follow the instructions to identify or prepare a scheme file that is suitable for the specific installation. Once a scheme file is prepared, follow the procedure for VAST Web UI installation.
