Operating a VAST Cluster requires an installed license. An active valid license entitles you to new software releases, service packs and support, which cease to be available if a license expires and is not replaced with a currently valid license.
Licenses are valid per cluster from a defined start date. They can specify a limited subscription period and a capacity usage limit. Capacity from multiple licenses can be combined.
Warning
Operating a VAST Cluster without a valid license is a violation of the VAST Cluster End User License Agreement (EULA).
-
Lack of active valid license does not cause a loss of functionality.
-
New clusters are initially installed with a trial license. The trial license is valid for 30 days and allows usage of full cluster capacity. Throughout the 30 day trial license period, a daily alarm is raised to remind you to activate a purchased license before the trial ends.
-
POC clusters may be installed with a special POC license that is valid for three months.
