The Multi-Cluster Dashboard tab is a high-level view aggregated across all of your VAST Data clusters. The dashboard consists of cards that show the performance metrics, status, and other relevant statistics for all the clusters that are registered with Uplink.
The registered clusters are listed above the dashboard cards:
Use the checkbox to the left of a cluster's name to display or hide the cluster details in the dashboard. The checkbox background color identifies the information pertaining to a particular cluster on various dashboard cards.
The dashboard includes the following cards:
-
The Cluster Status card shows the current status of each cluster registered with Uplink at a customer site.
Colored sections of the inner wheel represent the clusters. Hovering over a section displays the cluster name and its status.
The outer wheel shows the portion of clusters that are Online, Offline, Failed or Desynced. When you hover over a section, a list of clusters in a particular state is displayed.
-
The Data Reduction card shows the total Used, Auxiliary and Free space across all clusters.
The sections of the upper bar represent the total amount of used, auxiliary and free space.
The lower bar's section represent the portion that each cluster contributes. Hovering over a colored section displays the cluster name and the amount of space on it.
Click
to view the data as a bar chart.
-
The Inventory card shows the main hardware components and the overall status across all clusters.
Click
to view breakdowns of the state for each individual component. Select the object to view from the state per cluster dropdown to view the state per cluster of that object.
-
The Alarms card shows alarms by severity.
Hover over a colored bar section to view the number of alarms of a particular severity in each cluster.
-
The Performance card shows the total bandwidth, IOPS and latency across all clusters.
The colored bars within the gauge show the proportional breakdown for each cluster as part of the sum total (or average in the case of latency).
Hover over a gauge to view the total bandwidth, IOPS and latency for each cluster.
-
The Tasks card shows tasks currently running on the clusters.
The circles are color-coded to display tasks in the color of the cluster on which they are running.
-
The Performance History card shows bandwidth, IOPS or latency for the past 10 minutes aggregated over all the clusters.
Select Bandwidth, IOPS or Latency radio button to display the metrics graph.
The graphs are stacked to display the total performance (the peaks) as well as the per-cluster proportional performance (the relative size of the graph divided by color at any given point in time).
In the Clusters tab, cluster cards for registered clusters display the following items:
-
The cluster name.
-
The cluster status.
-
The VAST cluster version currently running on the cluster.
-
Performance metrics are sampled every minute. The line graphs represent the following data sampled over the previous 10 minutes:
-
MB/s. Bandwidth in MB/S
-
IOPS
-
MS. Latency measured in MS.
-
-
The most recently sampled value of every performance metric.
-
The used logical capacity of the cluster and the total logical capacity of the cluster, in the given units. For example, "TB capacity" means the logical capacity is quoted in TB. The bar gives a visual representation of the used logical capacity over the total logical capacity.
-
The cluster's license status.
-
The synchronization state between the on-premises VMS and VAST Uplink:
-
Synced. The data displayed was recently updated.
-
Out of sync. The data displayed is old data that was captured earlier and may not reflect the current state.
-
-
The number of alarms currently present on the cluster. The alarms are categorized by the alarm severity as Critical, Major, or Minor. Hover over the icon to see the number of alarms by category.
Click any cluster card to access the Uplink single-cluster dashboard. It is the Uplink version of the VMS cluster dashboard, as indicated by the VAST UPLINK logo at the top of the page:
In the dashboard:
-
Use the navigation menu on the left to view all of cluster's information in a way similar to using VAST Web UI. The same information is displayed as in the VAST Web UI.
- When viewing a page that lists cluster configuration items:
- To view detailed information about a configuration item, open the Actions menu (
) for that item and choose View.
- To create a support ticket for a configuration item, open the Actions (
) menu for that item and choose Create ticket. The Submit Ticket dialog opens with the reference to the component. Complete and submit the ticket. For more information about creating and submitting a support ticket, see Creating and Managing Support Tickets in Uplink.
- To view detailed information about a configuration item, open the Actions menu (
-
Note the status of synchronization between the cluster's on-premises VMS and Uplink. The status is shown next to the cluster's name:
- Click Documentation (at the bottom of the left navigation menu) to open documentation for the VMS.
- Click Local VMS (at the bottom of the left navigation menu) to open the login page for the local VMS UI. You will need to provide user credentials to log in to the local VMS.
Note
To be able to use the Local VMS option, ensure that your logged in device is on your VPN/local network.
- Click
(in the top left corner of the dashboard) to return to the Uplink multi-cluster dashboard or to go to an Uplink single-cluster dashboard for a different cluster.
