The VAST Web UI dashboard offers you a quick and easy way to monitor your VAST Cluster.
The dashboard appears when you log in to the VAST Web UI. To return to it at any time, click the VAST Data logo at the top of the page or select Dashboard from the left navigation menu.
The dashboard features several cards:
Capacity
The Capacity card can display the ratio of physical to logical capacity or ratio of usable to logical capacity.
By default, it displays usable capacity, which differs from raw physical capacity due to two components: a fixed initial space reservation for background activities and the overhead of parity blocks introduced by each write for data protection. The usable capacity values are adjusted to reflect realistic usable capacity whereas the physical capacity values reflect raw physical capacity. If you wish, you can change the Capacity card to display raw physical capacity instead of usable capacity. The relevant setting is in the VMS page under Settings and is called Show usable capacity. Disable this setting to switch to physical capacity and re-enable to revert to usable capacity.
The Capacity card features the following:

The data reduction ratio (DRR), continuously computed as the ratio of all data written by your data clients to the cluster (including snapshots) to the physical capacity in use. This figure reflects the reduction performed by the cluster through compression, de-duplication and such.

Capacity breakdown bar: reflects at a glance the percentage breakdown of the cluster's logical, physical or usable capacity into:

Used. The amount of data written to the cluster.

Auxiliary. This is data that has been deleted logically and may be held by snapshots. Data is either reflected as auxiliary data because it was deleted recently and its deletion is still being processed, or it is reflected as auxiliary data because it is held by snapshots. Prior to deletion, data is reflected as used. After the data is deleted, if one or more snapshots that include that data still remain, the data is held by snapshot(s). It is no longer reflected as used and is now reflected as auxiliary.

Free. The unused capacity of the cluster.
The colors of those components are indicated below the bar (see next item).

This category of metrics toggles between Usable and Physical according to the Usable setting (see item 1 above).

The detailed breakdown of the cluster capacity:

Physical Used. Physical SSD space being used by primary data and overhead. This does not include snapshots and data pending deletion. The higher the data reduction ratio, the lower this value is relative to the amount of data that is logically written.

Physical Aux. The amount of physical SSD space in use by snapshots and by any data that may be pending deletion at the current time. This figure usually gives a close indication of snapshot capacity usage. However, at times when a large amount of data was recently deleted, processing metadata to reflect the deletion may taken some time and temporarily enlarge this figure.

Physical Free. Total physical SSD space available.

Usable Used. The amount of usable SSD space in use by primary data. This is similar to the physical used with overhead subtracted. The higher the data reduction ratio, the lower this value is relative to the amount of data that is logically written.

Usable Aux. The amount of usable physical SSD space in use by snapshots and by any data that may be pending deletion at the current time.

Usable Free. The amount of physical SSD space available for use computed dynamically based on overhead impact.

Logical Used. The amount of logical data written to the cluster by your data clients. This figure doesn't include snapshots.

Logical Aux. The amount of logical data written to the cluster that was deleted and is being held as auxiliary data, either by snapshots or as deletion in process.

Logical Free. The estimated effective free capacity remaining for writing data to the cluster, computed dynamically based upon the observed DRR and overhead impact.

Note
By default, the units of measurement shown on the Dashboard are base10 units. If you prefer, you can switch to base2 units. See Changing Units of Measurement.
Performance
The Performance card dials show frequently updated real time metrics:

Bandwidth. The rate at which data is transmitted between the client network and VAST Cluster.
Tip
Click the dial to toggle between total bandwidth and a breakdown of read and write bandwidth.

IOPS. The number of I/O operations performed per second.

Latency. The time needed to perform an I/O operation.
Tip
Hover over the dial to display read, write and average latency (a weighted average based on read IOPS and write IOPS). Click the dial to toggle between displaying average latency and displaying a breakdown of read and write latency.

Enable the Replication setting to see these metrics for the connection between native replication peers. Disable to see the metrics for client data access.
Inventory
The Inventory card shows the main components of the cluster's hardware inventory and the primary status information.

Click
to open the Maintenance page to drill down to more detail. The Maintenance page opens to the relevant inventory tab.

Other refers to components in states other than Active or Failed.
Metric Graph Cards
Each graph displays the levels of selected analyzed metrics as they varied in recent seconds. You can change the combination of metrics displayed on each graph.

Hover over a point on a graph to see higher precision values.
