VAST Data's Easy Install utility for VAST Cluster 4.6 supports heterogeneous CNode topologies, in which CNodes need not be identical in terms of dual or single-NIC models, identical networking modes on all NICs, and in terms of whether both NICs on dual-NIC CNodes are network-connected or not. However, depending on your site requirements, your Sales Engineer may follow a different procedure to install clusters with heterogeneous CNode configurations.
Easy Install does not support installations with "multi-homed" CNodes, in which different ports of the same CNode NIC are connected to different client networks.
Easy Install is recommended for use for the following configurations, in which CNodes are homogeneously configured throughout the cluster:
Up to five CBoxes and up to five DBoxes in the cluster.
Either all CBoxes are dual-NIC models or all CBoxes are single-NIC models.
Networking mode identical on all CNodes: All NICs Ethernet, all NICs InfiniBand, left Ethernet and right InfiniBand, or vice versa.
For dual-NIC CNodes:
Either both NICs are connected on all CNodes or all CNodes have the left NIC connected and the right NIC not connected or vice versa.
If both NICs are connected, the left NIC is connected to the cluster's internal network and the right NIC to the external network, or vice versa, and this is the same on all CNodes.
