VAST Cluster supports continuously available SMB shares.
If an SMB share is continuously available, it allows SMB3 clients to request use of persistent file handles and keep their connections to this share in case of a failover event.
Note
This feature requires that the client uses SMBv3.
You can enable or disable continuous availability for an SMB share when you create or edit a view policy for the view that exposes the SMB share:
-
In VAST Web UI, enable or disable the Continuous Availability Supported option in the Add Policy or Update Policy dialog (Element Store -> View Policies -> choose to create or edit a view policy).
-
In VAST CLI, specify the
--smb-is-ca
or--smb-is-not-ca
options on theviewpolicy create
orviewpolicy modify
commands.
The current status of continuous availability per view policy is displayed in the Continuous Available column of the View Policies page in VAST Web UI.
